The AIRPOWER is back!

The Austrian Federal Armed Forces, together with
the Province of Styria and Red Bull, are hosting AIRPOWER at the Hinterstoisser military airfield in Zeltweg on September 6th and 7th September 2024.

Vienna / Zeltweg (June 15th, 2023) – On September 6th and 7th, 2024, the Austrian Armed Forces, together with its partners the Province of Styria and Red Bull, will host AIRPOWER24 at Hinterstoisser Air Base in Zeltweg. AIRPOWER24 will have a performance show on the ground, as well as demonstrations by the Austrian Air Force and international military aerobatic squadrons and participants from civil aviation. First and foremost, this includes the Flying Bulls, a static show of civil exhibitors from the fields of the aviation industry, research and education, and an extensive supporting event at the airfield site, including the Military Aviation Museum. AIRPOWER24 will again be free for visitors. Further details on Europe’s largest airshow, especially on the display programme and the improved traffic concept, will be presented this autumn.

“The impressive figures for the last AIRPOWER weekend in Zeltweg in September include the over 275,000 visitors welcomed to the event site and the tens of thousands of aviation enthusiasts to the air base. According to a survey by the Styrian provincial government, it brought over €9m added value to the region and significantly increased overnight stays and generated national media advertising valued at over €3.5m. I am therefore delighted that we are returning to the original biennial rhythm of AIRPOWER events and that, together with our partners Red Bull and the Province of Styria, we will once again be providing an important impetus in the region with AIRPOWER24, especially in these difficult economic times,” says Defence Minister Klaudia Tanner.

According to the Styrian provincial government, the AIRPOWER weekend alone brings added value of around €9 million to the Murtal region thanks to the additional demand in the tourism, leisure industry, and trade and gastronomy sectors. The Murtal was de facto fully booked for the 2022 event weekend; all catering establishments in the region recorded increased footfall and sales – and this weeks in advance.

Impressive support for AIRPOWER in the region.

The Murtal region and Styria also strongly support AIRPOWER: In two representative survey waves (Austria-wide n = 1,000) as well as an additional representative survey of its own in the Murtal region and Upper Styria in mid-June 2022 (n = 258) and early September 2022 (n = 306) respectively, the Institute for Demoscopy and Data Analysis (IFDD) surveyed the population’s attitude toward AIRPOWER in Zeltweg. The result is unambiguous: A clear majority of almost 85% in the region, and 81% in Austria as a whole, supports AIRPOWER.

Styria: AIRPOWER24 is an important driving force

“Styria is in the international spotlight with major motorsport events in Spielberg and the recent staging of AIRPOWER, Europe’s largest airshow. This strengthens the awareness of our province and, in particular, of the Murtal as a tourism destination and contributes directly to value creation in the region. This is crucial, not least for the preservation of many jobs, especially in difficult economic times. As an important stimulus for the region, the Province of Styria will again support AIRPOWER24 as a partner,” emphasises Provincial Governor Christopher Drexler and Deputy Provincial Governor Anton Lang.

Red Bull: “An unforgettable experience for the whole family.”

“We look forward to a new chapter of AIRPOWER in 2024. Together with our partners, the Austrian Armed Forces and the Province of Styria, we want to make AIRPOWER24 an unforgettable experience for the whole family. Together with the countless fans, we will celebrate the fascination of aeronautics with the Flying Bulls,” says Red Bull.
