With the Airpower flight competition of the FH OÖ – HAGENBERG, the Faculty of Computer Science, Communication and Media of the FH OÖ in Hagenberg is one of the pioneers among Austria’s universities of applied sciences, as there have been FH degree programmes here since 1993. The range of educational opportunities for a career in the fields of computer science, communication and media is wide. The 20 degree programmes this faculty of the Upper Austrian University of Applied Sciences offer have already achieved top marks in domestic and international rankings. The bachelor’s and master’s programmes cover topics such as IT security, information management, big data, software engineering, media technology, mobile and automotive computing, hardware design, digital arts, and knowledge management. Over 1,500 students from home and abroad are now studying in Austria’s Silicon Valley, in the middle of the green Mühlviertel district near Linz, the state capital. The distinctive campus character with the FH, student residences and apartments, and the software park with approx. 100 companies from the IT sector offer ideal studies and career opportunities in one area. Research is conducted at the faculty in close cooperation with domestic and foreign companies and partners in the future-oriented fields of machine learning/AI/KI, quantum computing, IT security, big data and cloud computing, heuristics, software technology and applications, media and knowledge technologies. Eleven research groups with over 100 researchers are working on innovative solutions for the digital future. In its AIRPOWER19 display the Upper Austrian University of Applied Sciences presents information about studying and invites all visitors to enter the long-distance flight competition, where attractive prizes await them at the hourly finale.
