The Agusta Bell 212 transport helicopter, designed to carry up to 14 people, has a two-blade main and tail rotor, a skid landing gear and is instrument flight capable. Its external cargo hook and an easily mountable winch make it a versatile craft: as well as being able to transport external loads, it is used for rescue operations and conducting geophysical surveys (with probe).

The AB-212 helicopter fleet has received a significant avionics upgrade in recent years as part of a Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU) which has seen the installation of screens and cutting-edge navigation, communications and self-protection systems.
